This itinerary is for the adventurous traveler, taking you through the rugged and majestic landscapes of Arunachal Pradesh. Note that permits (ILP for Indian citizens, PAP for foreigners) are required.

Day 1
Arrive at Guwahati Airport (GAU) and transfer to Dirang (approx. 8-9 hours). The drive is long but incredibly scenic, taking you through Bhalukpong (where you get your permit verified) and the picturesque Kameng River valley.

Day 2
After an early breakfast, begin your drive to Tawang.
The highlight of the day is crossing Sela Pass, a high-altitude pass at 13,700 feet, which is often snow-covered.
Visit the Sela Lake and Jaswant Garh War Memorial, a poignant tribute to a brave soldier of the 1962 Sino-Indian War.
Arrive in Tawang by late afternoon and check into your hotel.

Day 4
Take a day trip to the scenic Bum La Pass, the Indo-China border (requires a separate permit).
On the way, visit the beautiful Madhuri Lake (Sangetsar Lake), a stunning lake surrounded by snow-covered peaks.
Return to Tawang in the evening.

Day 5
Start your journey back to Guwahati early in the morning for your flight. The drive is long, so plan accordingly.
